Can I? and what Do I need

Fairly new to the Jeep scene. I have a YJ 1989. Engine is being rebuilt and I am working on the lift for my tire needs. Friend gave me 8 lugs 20" rim and tire size is 325 60R 20. The measure just under 35" from the floor. I have been searching for the right lift kit. This has been a struggle. It seems if I go over 4" I need a lot of stuff. So I am looking at the Black Diamond or the Skykacker 3.5" suspension lift. I researched the spring over kit, but have concluded that this would be a mistake.

So here is the question will these tire fit. I am looking at tube for the front.

Will I need a body lift 1" to help my cause.

thanks

Brian

Based on a 35, I am going to say yes. Another thing to consider is your axle and gear set. Not sure what you are running, but with 35's you need a beefy axle (at least a D44) and gears to make it go.
If you still have some clearance issues after the susp & Body lift, you could possibly gain another .5 of lift from shackles but only as a last resort.

First Welcome to the Forum

There is a lot to take into consideration when going that much larger. Check out the lift thread under the YJ section on this forum. You will find a ton of info there.

You will either need to sell the 8 lug or get wheel adaptors form them, not a fan of those, but for free rims and tires might be something to consider. I would also look at a new rear axle ford 8.8 is a good swap.

How much is a gear swapp out and is it something a garage should do or I can handle as a jack leg.

Wheel adaptors are $129 oer wheel. The tires and rim came off and rich freinds Hummer. I priced them at over $4000 for the set. This is the only reason I am trying to make them work to replace my stock rims and tires. The gear thing worries me though it sounds pricey. Will it just be slowly then normal or will it break something if I drive it on he stock gears.

I say sell the wheels. Regearing is over a grand, and is something only a shop should do.

Ask around because I just put on a 4in lift and my 33's just fit...I still have to do some fender trimming. I'm just afraid your 35's wont fit under a 4in lift.

a soa and 1 inch body lift would do it , but you will need wheel adapters or complete
axle swap, but you will need at least 4.10 gears 4.80 would be the best and you will need to do both the frt and rear axle ( with the stock or upgraded axles )
and then you need to hope you have a ax15 trans and not a ba 10.
