Can I get the donor vehicle information from a casting number

I bought a 1992 Wrangler YJ with a four cylinder 2.5 L or so I thought. The problem is I need to do a rebuild and in order to get the parts that I need I have to have the donor vehicle information. Do any of you know if there is any way that you can get the donor vehicle information from the casting number printed on the block or any other information such as specs of the the other parts? Any help would be great because I need to get this done ASAP. Thanks!

Idk if I understand but isn't the VIN # like etched like on the engine and stuff?
You can get a build sheet from jeep with the VIN telling u the specs the vehicle had when it left the factory here www.jeep.com/jeepcares I think, and just indicate u would want a build sheet.
Hope this helps. Good luck with rebuild.

This question is hard to answer, but I'd like to help if possible.

First, Why are you not sure if it's a 2.5? If you don't think that is it a 2.5L, what engine do you suspect that it is? It will be difficult to point you in the right direction w/o knowing what engine you are replacing.

The main bearings I need to replace are notched in the center whereas the ordered parts that I got to rebuild it or not on the right-hand side basically off-center I talked to one of the people from auto zone he led me to another mechanic a new a lot about the 2.5 L Chrysler engine and after seeing the bearings that I had, he indentified them as being similar to the ones on a Lebanon of the same year

I got some bearings from ORielly's and had no problem, are you sure you got the right bearings??
If you check out the engine rebuild sites, there are a couple of engine block numbers and letters that must match....that's about it along with the right year. I think 1991 thru 1995 all have the same engine block code P
