Unhappy Can someone help on differentials?

So, I want to upgrade them. Im new to the upgrade things and Im needing help. So, I know Dana is like a brand type . But what do the numbers mean? like Dana 60 (D60), How will I know what size will fit in my Jeep? What ones are better? the smaller splines or larger? gear ratios same question. Any help would be appreciated. I would also like to do brake/rotors on it as well. I hate drums. Anybody have good experiences with a certain type/brand?

How big a tire do you want to run?

Dana is an axle manufacturer, and you can find them under just about everything. Your best bet is finding 2 that you need from the same vehicle. For a YJ with leaf springs, getting some Jeep Wagoneer Dana44's would proabably be a good choice. You will have to pay attention to the spacing on the spring pads on the "Waggy" axles and their overall width. You will also have to get new wheels with a new lug pattern.

Dana Axle Chart

Another one

What you need is entirely dependent on what you plan to do with the rig, and how big of a tire you want to run. Hope that helps a bit. I'm running a Dana 30 front and a Dana 44 rear. The Dana 35 in the rear is considered by most to be a weak axle, especially with oversize tires.

also depending on the size tires you want to run you will need a to select gears from a certain range from 3.50-4.10 these run 33's up to 40 tires. Although when selecting gears keep this in mind the higher the gear the less mpg you will get.Gears are like how many times your wheel spins per engine rpm. higher gears give you more torque than speed and lower gives you more speed than torque . hope that helps

You have a Dana30 front and a Dana35 rear... like all stock YJ's.
