Exclamation cant figure out this sound!!!!!

i have a 1994 jeep wrangler se with a 4.0L and a 5speed.

for the past week and a half there has been this squeaking noise and i can not figure out what it is!~!!!@$@#%@#%#@!$!#@$

from listening with the hood open it sounds like its coming from the left back side of the engine. im pretty sure its not the clutch bearing because when i push in the clutch it makes no difference in the sound. and when i put it in gear it doesnt seem to change it either.

i am completely lost! and i just got this jeep so im pretty upset about this!!!

does anyone have any idea what it could be???

I dunno about rear left, but belt slipping on the alternator pulley? Well, if you're talking left when you're standing facing the engine.

Damn. Uhm... The main pulley on the engine the turns the whole belt assembly could have a bad bearing, but that's the wrong area completely. I'm not overly familiar with the 4.0 either, I've got the 2.5. I'm trying to think of what's there in my cousins 95 cherokee, since it's relatively the same setup...But I'm pretty clueless Sorry I couldn't be of more help- Hopefully someone else will get a chance to see this thread though. Alot of people on here are very helpful and alot more knowledgeable than myself. I usually just try to give any advice I might have, and keep the thread afloat long enough for someone with more experience to stumble across it. hahah.
