Carb question.

I just bought a 1990 Jeep Wrangler 33" tires and a 4" body lift with 90k miles on it, my only concern is that it seems to be running too rich, I can smell gas and exhaust, it also seems to have a dead-spot in the carb. I'v been hearing alot about the Weber Carb kit and I am wondering what you guys think about it. Thanks.

If you do a search you can find a lot of info on here about carb swaps. I did an MC 2100 on my 88 YJ 258CID (4.2I) with 155,000 miles and after going down to 40's for jets it runs really well. The old Carter just doesn't cut it. you might also consider going to a hotter coil for better spark and power.

welcome and I did the same thing as grandpa jeeper did. I installed an MC2100 kit I bought off a guy on ebay anbout $300 delivered. I have seen a lot on the weber and it seems to be a popular carb upgrade. I can tell you why I did not go with it. My search seemed to indicate it was harder to dial in the carb and seemed to run too rich. Again I have no experience and lots of guys here have the weber kit. I installed mine in about a day taking my time and going over each part I removed. My biggest problem was all those freakin vac hoses and crap. Once I got that all figured out and either connected or capped off it has run like a dream ever since, I am getting 18 MPG (all highway really) But it seems to come down to personal choice. I think most do 1 of 4 things.
1)Weber 2)MC2100 3) throttle body fuel injection 4) multiport injection The last too require a significant expense and also need electronics installed. But from what I hear going the fuel injection route will pay off better. Anyway good luck in what ever you do

The fuel injection is great, but depending on where you live the carb upgrade might do you just fine. When I put on the fuel injection I lived where there was emmisions testing and a carb upgrade wouldn't work. I also live in PA and the FI is great in the winter.
