Unhappy Carbed' 258 Cold Start Issues

I just bought a 1988 Wrangler YJ. I have had no problems with the car so far but about a week ago ONLY in the mornings on cold start, It will take longer to start than usual. When the car does start it revs up to 2k and sometimes even 3k and it will stay there. I know this cant be good when the engine is cold. It will start like this and I will hop in and pull it out of the driveway and by the time I get to the end of the street if I tap the gas a few times it will stop and go back to 1000 RPMS. This only happens in the mornings. I took the filter cover of and looked at the carb tonight and it looks the the throttle plate is permenatly stuck open! I cant even close it with my fingers. It seems like it is hanging up on the link to the stepper motor. I thought surely it wouldn't run right while it is stuck but I started it up and it ran fine but it will idle through the roof when I wake up to start it up in the morning. Any help would be appreciated thanks!

Clean it real good in and out with carb & choke cleaner first. Make sure your auto choke is set to no more than the 1 notch rich, the black housing on the left side of the carb. If you have to adjust it just loosen the screws, don't remove them, and slightly turn the housing. Once it starts cold you can then adjust the auto choke mechanism on the right side of the carb if it's working properly. It should never high idle at 3000 rpm's. The setting should be no higher than 2000-2200, then it should kick down to about 1500 before idling hot at approx. 800 rpm for these carbs. You might have linkage hanging up that's why I recommend to clean it first.
