Cat or O2 Sensor?

'91 Sahara w/ 4.0 & 137k miles. Seems to run great, but has a tiny hiccup at idle and exhaust smell is really strong. Not rotten egg smell, just really strong. No codes.

Does this sound like a bad cat or O2 sensor?

What's the easiest way to tell if it is a leak? It's not loud and I don't hear any popping like I was used to with an old blazer my brother had.

if you listen near the exhaust manifold (near the bottom of the engine on the driver side) listen for a ticking or clicking sound, it should be in sync with the turning of the motor. Also if you get a strong smell of exhaust check along the exhaust pipe near the O2 sensor also near the same spot for a rust hole or damage of some kind. In short check your exhaust pipe for leaks near the engine.
