Question Center Console???

My 95' Wrangler SE has a black metal center console with cup holders. The lock is broken and it slides all over the place. Is this the original? If not, any recommendations on a replacement?

Doesn't sound like it's the original, mines got the original one and it's plastic not metal, I would look to see if maybe the bolts holding it on came loose or off, locks can usually be replaced depending on what type it is, post a few pics and maybe we can identify the one you have.

Yeah my '94 has a stock consol, and it's plastic with two cup holders in front. When I bought it the lid was broke off. So I cut a piece off plywood to fit, carpeted it and fit it with a lock for the time being. I plan on buying an after-market one soon.

My stock console was just broken in to. They smashed the lock and ripped the door of the hinge. I'm replacing it with a Tuffy console. They are made out of 16 gauge steel. They cost a little extra, but I think it's worth it.

Figured out the problem. The console is one of the older Tuffy stereo security consoles(8"). The problem is the 95 YJ needs a 6.5". . Guess that means the hunt for a safe and functioning console begins. Thanks for the help and links!

If it looks like this then it is a Tuffy, I would call them to see if you can get replacement parts.

Mine is like this but black and the top arm pad is missing. The cup holders are also closed vs. Being a bit open at the bottom.

At least your 95 came with the cup holder in the front. My 89 has a figure 8 cup holder built into the lid so anything will tip when you open it.

They also OVERLAPPED the friggin' holes so you cannot put two cups of anything in there at the same time. On top of that, the cup holders are shorter in the back than the front so if you fast food cup doesn't fall over when you turn as it falls through the space between the holders, it will probably fall backwards when you accelerate.

I am blaming the same engineer who decided where to locate the radiator support bar above the Clutch master cylinder, place the intake hose for the engine lower than the motor, came up with brackets that stick up in the cargo area when you remove the rear seat, made the speakers impossible to remove without removing the whole dash and decided to put one license plate slot on the front bumper where you can't access the back.

I'll light the torches, get the pitchforks, and round up the villagers, you get the tar and feathers ready.

I also have a 95, I purcshased a console from Summitt Racing. It's brand was Vertically Driven Products. I moved my seats towards the doors enough to get the console in.

I have both the center console that cgullo83 has and the windshield mounted cup holders that fivestar9968 has. Both quite nice and a good upgrade if your old console is bunky.
