Changing under body gasoline filter question

I am about the change the gasoline in line filter underneath the body.
(1995 Wrangler)

I noticed that on the inlet of the filter there is a 90 degree rubber tubing elbow. It looks like it is pre formed. I am afraid if I use over the counter 1/4" rubber gas tubing it will crimp because the bend is so severe. Can that piece be purchased as an elbow somewhere?

I am trying to eliminate problems before this summers Colorado jeepin trip!

Also, does removing the gas tank filler cap take pressure off the line so the filter can be changed?

I don't ever remember seeing a 90 degree elbow on my fuel filter (it's a 95 too). I'm sure you can find something similar to what your looking at a local auto parts store, or even home depot. I Left my fuel cap on when I changed mine because I was afraid it would cause a syphon effect (kinda like putting your finger on the top of a straw submerged in water, then letting it go) The only fuel run off I had came from the filter its self.

I'm not 100% sure but I don't think you can buy that hose without purchasing the pump kit. I swapped an AMC V8 engine in my YJ and needed some hoses and items similar that didn't exist so I found a local Carquest store and talked with the counter guy and he ended up just letting me search through the hoses until i found one that would work.

I have that bend on my filter also. Ive changed my filter once in the 15 years Ive had the jeep and I'm about to change it again. Just reuse that tube if its not in bad shape. You can replace it with a new piece from any auto parts store. Don't forget the clamps
