Charging Problem 95 4.0L

Hello to all. I own a 95 Sahara with a 4L and It has sat for a few months. I replaced the battery with a Duralast Gold last October along with a new Alternator. I have jump started it a few times and let it run for over an hour, but it is only holding a minimum charge and won't start afterward. It starts to turn over, but then starts the clicking noise. The water levels in the battery are fine and when it is running it shows that it is charging. Is it possible that the connection to the starter could have something to do with this? Anyone else experienced problems like this or know any likely places the electrical system could be grounding? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm debating bringing the battery somewhere to be charged/checked, but I would think a battery rated for 8 years wouldn't go that fast. Thanks in advance.

Try cleaning the terminals on the battery leads, and the battery posts, They don't have to be corroded to be making a poor connection. Try disconnecting the wires to the starter and cleaning them too. But it sounds like the problem is in the battery wires or posts.

On one of my older cars. The terminals were just a dark gray with no visible corrosion and it wasn't getting enough through to start the car. But I could take a pocket knife and gently stab in between the post and clamp and it would start.

Thanks. Sounds possible. I'll give it a try. I live in Vermont and we get alot of salt from the roads. If anyone else has any ideas, I would appreciate it.

Ya clean them good or if they look real bad replace the whole wire they can corrode under the insulation over time and gain resistance.
