Chrome or Black?

I currentlu have a bunch of chrome on my jeep and was thinking about a change. Do you guys think i should leave it chrome or powder coat soemthing black? this would include anything chrome like the door hinges, windsheild hinges, hood hinges. hood hooks, front grill, steps. Any ideals from anyone? also opening to decals or anything like that! here is a picture of my jeep.

im a nut for black but if you did 1 piece you would have to do them all. like right now the only thing chrome on mine is the grill. prolly gonna leave that too. the rest is black...wheels hinges brackets the works.

I'd go to black. Chrome has always bothered me. Even on old muscle cars, it's.. ugh.. i dunno.. cheesy, I guess.

ID:	96949Although the chrome is nice, I subscribe to the idea that it belongs on mall crawlers. I can tell from the photos that this is not a mall crawler. I like the body matched and black accents. I also added satin black accents (decals) to mine. An old Hot rodder told me once " If it ain't fast or bad a.. CHROME IT!!!" I had a show truck and I really got sick of polishing aluminum and chrome.

Leave it Chrome. Chrome adds a bit of styling to the Jeep that is entirely different. Why listen to the peanuts that constantly tell you to remove the Chrome?

Now it's one thing to have a handful of chrome pieces than it is to Chrome everything. Subtle Chrome adds a bit of flavor. Chroming everything just tells everyone that you're an attention whore.

This is subtle:

This is attention whore:

Duplicolor makes a product called Shadow
and Rustoleum makes Blackout
These will take the chrome and make it dark chrome. Let me know if you try either of these. There are a few threads on these products but I havent gotten up the nerve to tell the wife that I am doing it. She loves the chrome, but its just my rims and side steps.

Ebay motors. There are several. Found a guy that sells them in gloss black and asked if he had satin or flat black and he did. Didn't charge me extra. Very reasonable. $15.00 for 2 Hood wrangler and 2 tub wrangler (small). He would even change the font, but I liked the OME lettering.

on your comment for powdercoating chrome. Bead blast the chrome and the powder coat will stick. I have done a bunch of it.

Thank you. That was the single hardest mod I have done. It is an all metal hood. English wheeled and sand bagged a flat piece of 16ga. Got the shape I wanted and welded it on. Spent weeks sanding and rewelding. I originally wanted to use IROC cowl induction that was functional with the throttle, but the solenoids were bad. Honestly after weeks of working on it, I just wanted to mount it. I appreciate the comments.

I think a little bit of chrome is OK but black is easy to fix. I also see chrome rusting or pitting if not kept up. I guess it depends on what you want. My wheels are black center with chrome outers by American racing. They look Ok but after I spend some time playing in the mud I have to make sure I clean and polish them or they get ugly.
