Chrysler 8.25 rearend Q

So I recently came across a Dana 30 and Chrysler 8.25 for my 2wd MJ project (cost $100). The axles are out of a 99 XJ, and the 8.25 is SOA. To make the 8.25 work on my Comanche, I would have to relocate the spring perches. My question is.... if I decided to put the 8.25 in my YJ instead (which is already SOA), would I still have to remove and relocate the spring perches?

The MJ and XJ have different widths for the spring perches, what about the YJ? Is it also different?

Would JEEP really have 3 different spring perch positions for the same axle?

Basically I want to add the 8.25 to my YJ, but if i have to modify it to fit the YJ, i'll just modify it to fit the MJ, and down the road get a dana 44 for the YJ.

Confused yet???

Yes you will have to relocate the spring perches no matter which vehicle you choose to install the C8.25 into.

XJ, YJ, an MJ. all are different. If you are looking for a D44 for the YJ spring over, find one from an Isuzu Rodeo.

There will be a line of rodeos to choose from. .at least there is in So Cal. Here's some things to look for... 1) take a tape measure with you because they come in 2 widths 58" and 60"... 2) they come with 4:10..430..456 gears and they come open diff and LSD. Stay away from the aluminum diff/3rd member axles too. One thing you'll have to deal with is that they have Chevy/Toyota 6lug. But the all have disc brakes. ..
So take your time and pick the one with the right gears and diff along with the right width you need.

If you aren't set on the D44, I say screw it and get an 8.8. Both will need the perches relocated, and the 8.8 is stronger and can come with discs. Has the same bolt pattern too.
