Clunking Noise

Fix one problem and another rears it's ugly head. I have a hard clunking type of a noise from the front end. It does not happen all the time. Mostly when it is raining or wet and when I am making a turn into my driveway or going over a pothole. I have no uneven tire wear and it does not seem to be out of alignment. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks
Semper Fi

I had a clunking noise comming from what I thought was the front end. Turned out to be the rear universal joints. Check them out.

FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!! fixed my clunk. Guess wtf it was???? The damn front center frame bushing. Every time i'd hit a bump it rattled and clunked. I just replaced and went for a long drive over every pot hole...and no more noise!!!!!

I've had the same problem for 4yrs. Started after my first trip to Moab. I feel the clunck in the floor board a times, but it's not always there.I've taken it to the stealership a couple times and they replaced a front shock, but it still hasn't gone away. I've even put it on a lift and checked for wear, but found nothing. Its really anoying.

the Hole to where the bushings sit on the bumper frame is elongated and rusted. So the bushing did not sit properly. I tried to look for big washers, but i found a solid metal exhaust gasket instead that with a small modification worked like a charm for that support the bushing needed. The bushing comes sort of like a male into female pose. One and one so they cup into one another and squash.

This is complete in the front of the car. It sits right in front of the rad, and under the front grill (external one).

Just took this with the I phone, sorry if Quality's bad. I took it off the lift cause i got busy with customers cars..

I Used OEM dealer bushings Part #s 55176179 & 55176178 for the top and bottom bushings. They do not have the Bolts anymore. So i had to find one from local parts place.

Clunk came back after a few days, so that was not the fix.

I did however change my right front sway bar link top bolt. But also in the rear. Right under the rear seat section. The middle beam that runs to the back if i hit it lightly makes the noise i always heard. So i jammed a big washer in between the beam and the floor and the noise now after 3 weeks still has not come back. So it might be one or the other and or both that created the damn noise.

All fixed!
