clutch master cylinder random part

Hello my fellow jeep enthusiasts!! I am new to the forum and couldnt find anything on this subject and any help is greatly appreciated!!

What i need help with is finding a replacement part for the clip that holds the rod into the clutch master cylinder. I know bad explanation unless you have ever looked specifically at what im talking about..But there is a little metal clip that goes in behind the washer that is on the clutch 'rod' that keeps the 'rod' from coming out of the firewall and the cylinder...My clutch 'rod' has came out of the firewall and i pulled the clip out but with my butter fingers i have broken the clip....wish i had a pic to put up but i am at work and will upload it as soon as i can...

i have went to my local auto zone and no luck and have called 4wd mag and they only have that part as part of a complete package for a new master cylinder...and as i do not want to spend 100.00 for a 5cent peice...when you look at it i am almost positive i can 'rig' this with a paper clip as it is not a mechanical part and only there to keep the clutch 'rod' from coming out of the firewall...so i guess my question is has anyone ever encountered this problem and does anyone even know what im rambling about...much thanks in advance!!

-chris

edit: oh and i have a 1992 4.0, but i dont think it matters

I think I know what you're talking about. I would go down to the hardware store and see what you can find. There will more than likely be something there.

good stuff, this is proll my only option..i do still have the part..but will proll refrain from taking the rod, just because i dont wanna take it out. But i do wish i knew where the clip went into on the cylinder..i know there are 3 parts it can hook into but its in such an akward spot its hard to see what is going on with it..i tried looking for a diagram but it seems many people make this part, clutch cylinder, so makes it somewhat of a headache....

on another note i just need to change my transmission mount and im good to go for the winter love my jeep, but i have let it go for a few years and you can flinstone the thing...the driver side floor board is pretty much gone....and i just got new axles front and back proll spent more on the damn thing then its worth right now....but got a hard top and full doors for $600!! in prety good shape...ok enough rambling thanks for the advice ill see what i can mess up this time!!
