Clutch pedal adjustment?

Hi, My mechanical expertise peaks at useing a knife and fork so I'm looking for some help. I've been having problems geting my 89 yj into gear. I took it to a shop and had the clutch master cylinder replaced. $145.00 later and it seems worse! Theres no grinding (or at least very very little) but its very hard to downshift and almost impossible to get into 1st. The clutch pedal goes all the way to the floor and when I start it, it wants to go, the clutch is slightly engaged even with the pedal on the floor. The pedal has little to no pressure. If I pump it about a thousand times if gets a little stiffer (no jokes please) and if I rev it up I can get it into gear sometimes. Upshifting is easier but not normal. Does the pedal need adjusting? do I need a clutch kit? Any help greatly appreciated.

I also have an 89yj and have found that the slave cylinder goes bad about every 75,000. You have to drop the tranny to get it, ive always done mine myself so i couldnt tell you what the cost would be

i just got a new clutch presure plate and slave and it seems i haveto barely push the clutch down maybe an inch inch and a half. im told there is no adjustment and that it will work down towards the floor as the clutch wears. is this true? my haynes manual didnt list anything under clutch adjustment either. your prob could be the clutch master cyl. or slave cyl. as well as the clutch itself. if it was me id check to make sure you have fluid and bleed it out so there isnt any air in the lines or any fluid leaking.

make sure you get a kit with a new slave. mine came with one maybe all clutch kits do not sure. but might as well put the new one in while ya can considering ya gotta pull either the motor or tranny to get to it.
