clutch peddle grinds

I have a 1998 jeep wrangler. When at a stop light the other day I pressed the clutch in while stopped and a load grinding noise started as soon as I released the clutch is stopped. I did this three time while stopped and had the same noise. We I put it in gear and drove away all was fine. I let the jeep sit for a few hours and when I went back to I could not make it grind again. I have been driving it for a week and still no grinding noises. any thoughts out there would be very helpful
