Cost to change to 4:88

As the title says I want to regear to 4:88 I have been quoted $1500. Is that fair? I guess I should also ask again after reading several post is it that much of an inprovement for a 4 cyl?

I paid $1200 out the door for mine. It all depends on the price of labor. Mine was $250/axle flat rate

I've seen some shops as low as $1000 parts and labor as part of a special. $1400 is pretty average.

I would never pay that much. That being said I can and have the tools to do it myself....

Just FYI my inch lb torque wrench and dial indicators cost $500... And they are cheap.

I guess it comes down to how much money you want to spend on tools to do it yourself or what your willing to pay someone else.

I don't think 250 an axle is a bad price for whomever said that.

I know the cost of Superior Gears for a Dana 30 and a Ford 8.8 are about $400 for the set and then you'll have labor. There's a guy here in Tampa who does both axles for $300. That means, I'm gonna have $700 into a re-gear.
