Cowl seal problems

I recently replaced the cowl seal in my 94 yj and it's already leaking and just doesn't seem to fit well. The previous seal was the original from the factory which didn't leak but it was getting real nasty looking.

The new seal (made by Rugged Ridge) seems to be loose just below the middle of the windshield. The seal under the windshield hinges is really tight but I can grab the middle of the cowl seal and easily pull it out. The old seal was tight all the way across. Any suggestions on a good after market seal or should I just bite the bullet and by a new one from the dealer. Also, when you install them is it worth putting some caulking on the seal and frame to help with future leaking issues? Thanks for the help.

I havent had a seal apart on a 94, but on my 87 the seal is bolted to the bottom of the windshield frame with sheet metal screws.

If it were me, i would definately try the caulking method before i went out and bought another seal. Cant hurt, and if it doesnt seal for some reason, you can always clean the caulking off and then bite the bullet for a new windshield/cowl seal from the dealer, IF you can find one. Parts for a YJ are slowly becoming obsolete unless you get then aftermarket.
