D30 question

I am am going to the 8.8 with 4:10 gears this week. Of course I need to change the gears in the front. Where should I get the gears? I don't suppose there's a vehicle out there that comes stock with a d30 with 4:10.

I will also need a drive shaft. Who should I get that from?

YJs that came stock with the 4cyl came stock with 4.10 gears. The drive shaft will most likely have to be custom. I am currently doing this swap. I retrieved the ford rear driveshaft flange from the donor exploder at the JY. Or you can purchase one offline through multiple suppliers tea up on this.

The 4 bangers with a D30 has 4.10 gears from the factory. I've heard the cheapest way to swap gears to 4.10's is to just buy a complete D30 with 4.10 gears in it!!!!

Tattons on eBay makes a great driveshaft. 7" of spline instead of the usual 3-4". And regarding the gears, I'd find an axle from a 4cyl YJ. It's the easiest way to do it.

My jeep is a 95 yj with the stock d30 and has 3:55 gears. It's hard to find YJ's around here. If the Cherokee comes with one there are plenty at the local pull a part so I will check that option out.

I have to get a drive shaft anyway beings mine twisted to hell and back when the d35 locked up going down the road about 50 mph.

Look for 4cyl Cherokees. None of the 4.0ls had 4.10 gears.

It's next to impossible to find one. Took me months. Guys suggesting a hp30 (Cherokee) are even harder to find.

I've only seen one before. Very rare. But a rotted out or crashed 4cyl YJ isn't too hard to find. That's the route I'd go.

This is mine. LP. On the right. Took like 4 months to find one. At a reasonable price. Guys wanted like 300. This was 175.

I looked online at car-part.com. Looking at about 350 plus then have to get it shipped. It's pretty much impossible to find someone selling parts off a yj in my area. I have tried CL but when you ask them about the gear ratio they have no clue how to find out and I'm not going to drive an hour or more to look at one vehicle.
I did see a lot of Cherokees at pull a part so now with y'all's help I know what I need to look for.

The xj front d30 is going to be a direct swap for a tj, so you would have to redo the brackets for your YJ.

Fabricating and welding is no problem. I did it for a living close to 20 years. Just need to get all these part together.
