Dana 35 woes

Welp. IT happened...

Felt and heard a metallic pop. Next thing I know I see my wheel and axle out of the corner of my eye rolling on past into oncoming traffic!! I was doing about 55mph around corners too, with NO brakes, not that i was slamming onto them anyways

Luckily nobody was hit, and I managed to stop in the ONE dirt pile on the side of the road. Had to have a tow truck come and tow me home. Guess I have a good reason to begin gathering money and parts for that 8.8 swap

Gotta go find the wheel tomorrow or something. NO clue where it went..

Damn that sucks, I snapped an axle in my d44, while on the freeway doing 75. I got lucky that I had rear disc cause the two bolts that hold the caliparer on saved my tire from ting past me.

That is unreal. Glad it didn't turn out as bad as it could have

Glad no one was hurt. Good luck finding the wheel. Had you been wheeling recently or did this just happen out of the blue? What size are the tires? Is the carrier open?

Wow, and it doesn't look like you are running that big of a tire. Scary.

Looks like an axle bearing went out, would have thought you could have heard it getting bad, bearings fail on all differentials over time!

I offroad my Jeep almost daily, but it's not like anything extreme, just moderate trails. Was actually on my way out to do a bit of offroading to fly some model gliders at a location I frequent.

Nope 235's.

Axle bearing was probably still in tact, the retainer plate is FUBAR though. The small lip that holds the whole thing in place just sheared right off, peeled right open like nothing.

The wheel was pretty much bald though, had about 1mm of tread left on it. It would have made a decent spare, but I'm seriously considering upgrading to KM2's.

At this time... A SOA conversion isn't practical. Not until I can buy myself a dedicated DD. When I DO get a DDD, the Jeep is going to be torn down and rebuilt how I want it to be rebuilt.
