Dash guages and lights just quit working

So soon after my 92 yj started leaking water from the dash ( which I still havent found the source but I have been reading on here that it could be the cowl leaking) any ways the dash lights quit working a month ago, and now after the water started coming in, now the dash gauges do not work completely. None work, speedo, tach, fuel, oil... Nothing.

Any help on this?

The water can be coming in at the seal that is between the frame and windshield where its able to fold down. it could also be the vent that is in front of the windshield, that can get clogged up. The five center gauges are wired with a PCB (printed circuit board) which can get corroded with the water. I had the same issue. I cleaned all connections and the pcb. The speedo on mine is a cable, mechanical. The tach is wired in.

Sounds like you have corrosion on your electrical components.

If you flip on the running lights switch, do the running lights turn on? If so, then the dash light issue may be from the corrosion, OR from the Dimmer switch being rusted out or something.

had same problem, got a not so pretty gage set and swapped the flat cable PCB and all works. some have mentioned the tracing can be repaired by getting a metalalized paint to repair where the corrosion is, as this sounds like your problem. old style window security glass breakage tape might work here if you can find it. you might even be able to run small cable from light bulb carrier to carrier to jump the broken tracing....Driller
