Dash leak?

After a heavy rain fall or a long rain fall, a leak begins coming from under my dash. I have checked my window seal by pouring water on it... no water drips. Wondering what might be causing this leak.

I have the same problem dude. I have no idea what causes it.
And it's annoying when I'm driving through really bad rain and having I drip on my feet haha

It could be a rusted out Heater Core. Or, hopefully a plugged line like huber15 suggests.

i pour hot water with bleach into the intake cowl in front of the windshield every couple of months. no clogs and no wet feet. you don't actually have to remove it. it has a spring metal closure in the bottom tip. just squeeze it to drain.

My 92 was having the same issue. Specially after washing it. What it is, is the top air port right in front of the window gets over run with water that drips down into your blower motor box. Then it leaks out of either the box in the passenger side, or when you take a hard turn will spill all over your feet via the lower air port. What i did was buy a new top vent cover and flip it around to face the window. Then i put meshing inside of it just to protect it from any debris. So far so good and it has been DRY ever since. i'll take some pix. Its actually raining now.

Before doing so though, take it all apart even the original stock flat covering and clean it all out w/e crap is in side of there. Then put it all back together using the original covering 1st and then adding the new one over it all. This all makes sure no crap gets back in side of it as well as keeps the water out.

I am not saying this is 100%, but in the last typhoons it has been dry with the exception of soft door leaks.

Mine drips directly onto my feet. It's not coming from the vents at all.

so it drips straight down on your feet? perhaps the main window seal is no good on either the window itself, or the seal between both body parts.

Yeah....Sounding more like the cowl seal. Runs between the windshield frame and tub. Need to fold the window over to access.

No I didn't solve. I can't. I'm in Monterey. I live in NC. I will when I get home. But it's odd, it happens with a hard rain, regardless of whichever direction i'm turning

If you get it figured out let us know. I've replaced the cowl gasket with new one and cleaned/checked the drain. Still leaks like a ???? Has done it since the day i got it. Last time it took out the sony radio. Thinking about replacing it with one made for a boat. I love working on jeeps. I have the time because my gmc pick-up and toy 4 runner don't require working on.

same thing was happening to me on my 89 yj. found this old post and it has stopped the leak, works well if you don't need to put your windshield down. http://www.wranglerforum.com/f8/leaking-yj-24458.html
good luck.

There is an opening on the firewall midway between the steering wheel and the floor that allows you to pass wires (for radio, amplifier, auxilary lights etc) to and from the engine bay. The seal that is used for this hole is not a great one. The same happens to me in my Jeep, but Ive never cared to fix it. However, Ive always suspected it was attributed to the above. I have a 1997 TJ body. Hope this helps.

Well that thing has been sealed. But I'm going to spray foam any crevices.

Alright dude.
Id rather pick a frogman over a coasty anyday.
And I figured that problem out. Fold the windshield down, there's an area down there that can leak water in if, and only if, the seal has ceased to exist.

Im telling you guys if you make a turn and it leaks on your right foot it is the top vent that is over flowing water into your AIR box under the dash. if you turn your fan on you can hear the water splashing around as well ( if it is full) Do what i did and it solved my problem..

even lift the passenger side carpet up...i almost 100% + that it drips water out of the box onto the floor as well and is all under your carpet.
