Dash LED Lights

For anyone interested in replacing your YJ dash lights with LED lights, I found a set of 8 for $5.49 (free shipping) and took a chance on them. They work great. Cheap mod with incredible difference. You can even see them in day light driving (link). Some shops are charging $5.00 each for these lights. The pictures don't do them justice, but here's a sample...

7 - 2 tach, 2 speedo, and 3 behind the center gauges. With the 8 pack you have a spare just in case.

Not yet. When I took the instrument panel off, I was missing the socket behind the gauges for the oil pressure and battery. I ended up moving the socket that was behind the 4WD indicator so I could finish putting in the blue lights. I'm ordering a new socket (LINK) and will get two white LED lights (LINK) for the 4WD light and to go behind the Heater/Vent switch. The short lights are great for backlighting the rest of the panels, but a longer light is needed to properly light the Off/Heater/Vent panel because it lights from one side.

There's one bulb right behind the word "Vent" and it shines down and lights the rest of the panel. As long as the LED is made for size 194 it will fit all of the larger sockets. There are some smaller lights behind the panel between the Tach and Speedo for the check engine, brake, seat belt, etc that takes a different size.

BTW, the smaller bulbs are size 74. These are for the warning lights (brake, directional, seat belt, shift, etc). They should be white because the plastic insert is colored according to the warning. (LINK)

I did this mod a couple of months ago and it's awesome. All the gauges are easier to read and look updated. Found one of those 10 packs on amazon real cheap!

How easy is it for a novice to wire these up, and do you use the stock power supply for the leds?

Just rub the connectors with a q-tip and alcohol, let it evaporate, and then the connection should be good.

It's probably seated backwards in the socket. Turn it around and see if it lights up.

yea no prob. I pulled it apart, it was a different kind of light bulb wouldn't fit the 194s

You're welcome. They do ship fast and are better priced than some of the other references I've seen so far. I try to save a dollar when I can to use the excess for another mod!

I was ordering something for my son from amazon which fell short of the $25 for the free shipping, so I just ordered the lights on a whim. It definitely paid off!

I did mine in all Red, better for night vision than the blue, green, or whites. Plus my Jeep is red so it went with my preferred look. It looks super nice.

I like the red look too. I went with blue to match my stereo. Looking at some of the pics they all look good.
