I have a 93 yj, I was messing around with the interior lights trying to add some new ones and now my dash gauge lights wont come on. the fuse is good, any ideas on what it could be?

relays might click, especially a heavier/industrial relay...

did you install LED lights? sometimes they will be the kind that allows to be installed either way, (not just positive to positive)... sometimes the LEDs need to installed only one way,

Im not sure, (memory issues), but one of those may affect the lights in other parts of the system...i.e. the other lights wont work

so, for clarification, 'different circuit' means the led bulbs are on a different fuse on the distribution panel..??

if so, then you are prolly correct, it shouldnt matter, (if I understand correctly)..

I wouldn't think that they would be the problem, but just for $hits and giggles, I would disconnect the LED's and see if the problem goes away. It's not likely, but since it seems to be easy to try it may be worth it. Good luck

originally I tried to wire the lights to the actual light bulb socket underneath the dash I just unplugged the factory light bulb and plugged in some different lights to the connector but it didn't work. I'm pretty sure doing that messed something up in the dash light area, afterwards I put a volt meter in and no voltage sensed by the meter, cant find any blown fuses

The under dash lights are switched by a switch at the door hinge area.

How are you testing for voltage??

Across the two wires at the socket, or from one of those wires to ground?

Again, depend on how you have it, those under dash sockets should only have power when the doors are closed, or switched

when I bought it the door hinge light switch was not attached and the light bulb under the dash wouldn't work unless you twisted the wire a certain way because it was so old and crusty. For me I thought it would be best to use that constant power supply and wire the switch and a new light to it. Sometime when i was wiring it I messed something up so now that socket doesn't have power and neither do the dash lights.
