Dashboard Removal-Need Advice

I'm tearing my '94 YJ down to prep for paint. I want to remove the winshield hinges. I need to get under the dash to get a wrench on the nuts. I believe this requires removal or at least loosening the dashboard. Also, while I'm under there, I want to replace the dash speakers. If I don't have to, I'd rather not completely remove the dash.

Anybody have any shortcuts or tips to make this easier?

Danke.

I have a '92 wrangler and just replaced the speakers in mine. It took me half a day by myself. How far have you taken it apart so far?

Took the windshield off by removing the bolts thru the hinges. I have the covers off the instrument panel, had to stop there due to lack of time.

I found that removing all the instrument panel covers is not needed. Fold the windshield down and there should be 5 or 6 torx bolts there. Take those out as well as the 3 on either side by the speaker slits. That should allow the whole dash panel to slide out. After that, it should be all wires holding it in. The hinge nuts should be easy to get to after the dash is pulled out. It is a little bit of a tight space, but its enough.

Got it out far enought to remove the hinge nuts. Looks like I have some re-wiring to do. One of the PO's must have installed the stereo and anti-theft alarm. Looks like a lot of cut wires so I'm going to have to trace them to see what they're for. Hood & fenders comin' off tonight. I only have two nights each week to work on it, workin' two jobs is startin' to suck.
