any 80w90 gear oil is fine, valvoline is usually everywhere and priced well. to be safe i'd get 6 bottles 5 will cover it but its hard to get all the fluid out sometimes, it helps to pour what you can't get out into another bottle and you can usually get most of it in there.

i was gonna do my rear ends but then i read my tag that said "limited slip diff fluid only".. I just got the basic 80-90W gear oil, about 5 quarts. (just for rear to start with). I dont want to mess with it until I know I have the right stuff. I'll try and find some additive in my local Kragen/CSK..

is mine some kind of upgraded diff over the base, or does everyone have limited slip? Mine is a Dana 35 as far as everyone tells me. It has a rubber fill plug on the back, no metal plug.

might my front dana 30 also have that requirement or is that usually only for the rear?

You need standard 80W90 AND a little bottle of "friction modifier" for the limited slip LSD.

I found this:

CRC: Equa-Torque "Limited Slip Additive" (4 fluid Ounces)

but..

Applications: Should be used in conjunction with conventional GL-5 or HP level gear oils. DO NOT USE IN AMC JEEPS WITH QUADRA-TRAC.

If here is no Jeep Dealer in your area. The Nissan LSDs use the same stuff. You can also buy it at a nissan dealer.

Your 80W-90 diff fluid should be GL-5.

You don“t have Quadra-Trac.
