DIY spare tire carrier

Has anyone put together a swing away carrier at home? I have a decent aftermarket bumper on the 95 and the price for new spare tire and bumper combos is ridiculous. I found a company that sells a heavy duty hinge, locking mechanism and plate to mount the tire for $92. There's a fab shop in my little town and I was going to run over and talk to them about what it would take to get square tubing and fab this up. Anyone done this? Here is the link to the parts:

I just bought one off Ebay. $318 shipped. I like it so far and you can't beat the price.
Bought from truck_and_winch. The locking mech. isn't the best but I would rate it a 9 out of 10

I built my own useing that spindle. It handles the weight of my heavy 38 12.50 spare plus tools very well.

Not bad, every thing is bolted or clamp down inside.

Zach is a great guy to deal with. but first question is are you still running a rear seat? I opted to take the stock tire carrier and use it to make a tub mount for the spare.

Looks good I like the shock mounts. I do run the back seat off and on.

definitely need a rear seat. Banks, do you have dimensions on the rig you built? That looks super nice.

you can also wrap a rag around stuff in the box if the noise bothers you guys. i have all the stuff in my ammo cans with a towel either around , or under them. no noise at all

dimensions on the carrier would be great. Just the dimension from the bottom portion of the carrier. I imagine that is 54"? I need to learn to weld

i like the towel being in there because you also have a way to wipe your hands, wipe seats off, use as an emergency blanket, tons of things
