Does this need to be plugged?

I was checking all the fluids on the new motor and noticed this.. Does it need to be plugged?

That is your EGR valve, it is not goign to cause any breakdowns, however i will cause you to fail an emissions test. If you run regular unleaded fiel, you might get some pinging, that EGR is designed to slow the fuel burn adn cool the burn process, resulting in lower N0x emissions, and the ABILITY to run at higher timing (BTDC).

Ok, just installed a new 4.2 bored 60 over this week. Having a problem with the idle dropping to about 300 when put in gear and trying to solve the problem. Idles great in neutral and in park. Also has a slight fuel smell. Would this cause that?

Do I just need to plug it off or is there supposed to be a line running somewhere else I need to plug it into?

its supposed to have a vacuum line hooked to it.. not sure where it comes from though..

It could if the other end of that connection is still open. Should find it at the base of the intake manifold..
