So it's starting to get cold at night here in Ohio and my 92 6cyl 5 spd is getting quarrelsome in the morning. It won't kick in the fuel pump until I leave the key on for a couple minutes.I replaced the fuel pump relay and it still does it. Once it starts and she warms up no problem the rest of the day.

Any ideas?

Check your fuel pressure at the rail. I bet it is low. When was the last time you changed your fuel filter? I would also suspect fuel pump could be an issue.

This is your problem. Nothing else will cause the delay like that out of everything I've seen anyways.

1. Turn your key to on and it does nothing
2. after waiting 1-20 minutes, the fuel pump growls and the check engine light comes up, after that your good to go.

If these are your symptoms, its the PCM/ECU for sure. You can tackle the capacitors as they are the root cause. Or, you can get one where I did at autocomputerexchange out of FL. If your interested in a cheaper solution and you don't want to rip into it, I can try it. I'm up in MI and my wife and I run a computer store. I have everything I need to do it, the only thing is, back when mine failed on me I was not aware of the capacitors in there being the root cause. Had I known that now, I'd have put it on the bench and re-did it myself... If you send it up, I'd get it done right away and should be able to ship back within a day or two for sure. PM me if you want me to do it, I'd need to make a run to radio shack for the capacitors and we can work out any details that way.

Probe the power going back to the fuel pump & have someone turn the key on. If you get instant power to the probe, it's a fuel pump issue. Sounds like it's on its way out to me.

I had a S-10 that would do the same thing. You had to cycle the key numerous times to get it to prime, but once the truck started the pump would come around. It didnt last long once it started acting up.
