Door Pin Inserts

I am on my second set of these, they're supposed to be no-brainers, they're supposed to just drop right in and hold the window uppers in place. But the ones I've bought (2 different brands, cheaper than Bestop) don't fit well and break when I try to get them in. I know there's a pinchy thing at the top to seat it, but so far I haven't even been able to get them that far in. Is there a secret? Pounding them in doesn't work, they break too easily (hence the reason for my second set). Do I just have to bite the bullet and buy the Bestop brand? Even the cheap ones aren't cheap. And now my doors rattle from all the broken pieces that have fallen through.

I replaced mine when I replaced the top. Same deal with Rugged Ridge but, when you insert them, they are to be turned 1/4 turn to lock them in.
