Dumb turn signal question 91YJ

The idiot who owned my jeep before me replaced the steering column. Since then the turn signals work fine but the right signal does not shut off automatically after you complete your turn. Before I tear in to the steering column, can someone throw me a clue as to what is wrong? I don't want to bother with it if I have to replace the steering column or something along those lines to fix it.

It kinda sounds like you might need.to center the steering wheel properly.

You may need a new turn signal switch , the tab that cancels the offending side may have broken off. If the cancelling cam was bad it wouldnt cancel in either direction.I have replaced a lot of turn signal switches for that reason. You wont be sure till you pull the steering wheel and lock plate.

Once you get the steering wheel of you will need a lock plate compressor tool. That subject was covered in a earlier post today
