Electric Problems...

To make a long story short, I bought a 95 jeep wrangler with a blown 2.5 4 cylinder and a manual transmission. It did run a few weeks ago when I parked it in the garage it just had a real bad knock so I know everything besides the motor should be good. After swapping in the new motor I am getting no fuel and the starter will not even click, like you are not even turning the key. The lights and radio do come on. I do have good power at the starter but nothing at the smaller wire when turning the key. It will turn over when jumping the two terminals together so I know the starter is good. Also tried another ECU. I am really stumped on this one. I may change the ignition cylinder next to see if that works but it just worked a few weeks ago. Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

i think this is the problem on mine, if you got anything like this on the passenger side of the engine, look where that damn wire goes, maybe you can help my situation.

look and see if you have a brown wire from there to the starter relay. the relay is in the relay box just in front of the of the battery. thais would be on the 95. check for it on the 88 also. may be the same.

On the older YJ's, at least up till "90", the two relays on the outboard side of the battery tray are for the intake manifold heater, (forward relay) & the electric choke. ( aft relay) The little plastic box with a small circuit board inside, is for the sol-vac & rear window defroster. These three items should be left intact when removing computer/emissions wiring after the "Nutter" as should the resistor wire (highlighted in yellow) in the large loom going across the engine side of the firewall. This wire may be marked "Do not cut", but it might not be marked at all. It should "look" different though.

Here is a drawing of the starter relay, for the carbed YJ's;

on the diagram buckshot posted there are three wires attached to the terminal with the large red battery wire hooked to it. how many are actually attached on your jeep?

I have three wires attached to that terminal. Plus the red battery cable and plus the one in the picture that does not go anywhere.

i'm looking at the schematic of buckshot. looks like(kina blurry) that there is a brown lead that hooks up with a red lead from the alternator with a fusable link in between. look at the two links on the schematic. it's the one on the right heading over to the right. if you have a meter, disconnect the wires, and ohm out from the alternator to each one. you should have continuity from the alternator to onr of the wires on the large center post.

I checked and re-checked everything for the 5th time now. I am going to where the jeep is now to take pictures of all wires and connectors to post on here. They should be on within the next few hours. Thanks for the input Guys!

These 5 wires go to the alternator. I took them off earlier to make sure I had everything correct.

Starter Wires. Does this look correct?

Could not find anywhere that this could plug in but am not sure if it was plugged in before.

This one too?

Does this wire that comes off of the alternator wire go here? Or can it go there? Looks like a ground wire to me.

Thanks guys!
