engine and trannie swap or rebuild?

I have an '87 yj that is a bit tired. I am trying to decide whether to rebuild the stock motor or swap it for a fuel injected one. I have an '88 Cherokee engine and trannie, but I am not sure if I should use it. The swap looks like it could be pretty difficult. What would you do? What motor would you put in?

well the motor and transmission are not the only thing you would need from the cherokee. you would also need all the wiring harness, and even then it could still be tricky. just rebuilding the engine is probably gona be your cheapest/easiest route. and you could always convert the 4.2 to fuel injection. i believe howel makes a good kit.

I have the whole Cherokee. But even with all of its parts, there is still much to be done.
Hmmm, converting the engine, huh? That idea has merit!

yeah, there are a few kits out there. and you could do it in a way as to rebuild the engine, then wait and save up enough to swap it over to fuel injection.

yikes. The kits are pricey. They might be a bit outside my budget.
