Engine Identification # location?

I just got this jeep and the guy I got it from says that the engine is out of a different jeep, so I am trying to find the id number so I know exactly what it is out of and get the right parts. It is a 2.5, are all the parts the same aside from the intakes throughout the years?

You want to know if a fuel injection system is rebuildable?

I think NAPA auto parts offers rebuilt injectors and computers, but thats about all that goes bad thats potentially hard to get, the rest of the parts are pretty common enough (o2 and map sensors etc...).

Ok got that all figured out and figured out how the fuel system works. Now my problem is reading this id number.. it is the one on the back pass side of the engine where the head meets the block right? This is what I found vp520591, does this look familiar, any links to how to read it? Thanks for your help.

It's tbi. The reason I'm trying to find out is because the guy I got it from said the engine was out of a 97. I'm just trying to verify.
