Just found out right side engine mount is broke. Just wanted to know if they are a pain in the butt to replace or pretty easy??? Here is a pic of the right side. Will new ones have that center bolt???
Replacing motor mounts isn't too bad of a job. The replacements do not come with a new bolt. Use a floor jack and a block of wood under the oil pan. Raise the jack until it is supporting the engine. Then you can take out the center bolt and the motor mount. Replacement is opposite. You can move the engine slightly with the jack if needed. Hard part if getting the bolt holes lined up. If nothing moves it should line right up for the replacement.
That lower mount bracket is why I said a cheap motor mount lift. Like somebody just made a bracket and welded it on to the frame. I've never seen a lower bracket like that before. The Chrysler mount is supposed to sit directly on the frame part without that bracket there
I remember seeing my buddies 4 banger with those and thought it was a motor mount lift. After talking to him, he said it's not. His broke too and he got these which I mistook for an MML CR2569, Mount Support Cradle
Brown Dog make good stuff you won't be disappointed. I would change both sides at the same time or the stock will break...Its way weaker than the Brown Dog MM.
Be sure to check the transmission mount. Your metal tear seems unusual. I used the poly mounts from MORE ( Mountain Offroad). You can feel a slight increase in vibes until the poly breaks in. I do not recommend using stock replacement rubber mounts.
It is not so much a weight issue as engine balance issue
A straight six is inherently balanced with no primary or secondary shaking force or rocking couple but inherent in the design of a straight four is an unbalanced vibration at twice the engine rpm so softer mounts are a must with a straight four unless it is the silent shaft design with twin chain driven weighted shafts spinning at double the crankshaft rpm
I bought the BD engine mounts with poly bushing and the saddle plate for my 91 YJ. Just finished installing them this morning. The vibrations is crazy on steering wheel, hood, and right side of dash at idle or stop light, goes away when driving except dash will vibrate at low RpM. Now tonight driving it home 45 miles away, - new vibration has come some where on fire wall area and dash area at high RpM and high speeds. Idk what the heck to do. Ready to get rid of it. The old bushing where destroyed and lol had no vibration.

Looks like they are built strong but. there is not as much rubber to absorb / isolate the vibration. I replaced my stock mounts a few years back with some from Local parts store. There was no vibration afterward But they do not come with that bottom piece.
Does BD sell the Bottom piece separate and if so do the bolt holes line up with the stock mounts?
Or try and hit up a salvage yard.
Brown Dog does sell the bottom piece separate. I used it with stock MM's.
