ok i bought a 93 wrangler with an 88 4.2 litre inline 6. it needed alot of work i got everything fixed but the engine....supposively ran before i bought it but when it came time for sale it didnt start. i replaced the coil, distributor, rotor button, wires and plugs. getting gas and spark to the engine but it wont start.... far as i know there isnt any sensors on the block that would stop it from starting.....so in otherwords im stuck....so any helpful advice would be superb......

have you ever heard it run before you bought it? kinda hokey to put a 4.2 in a 93 jeep that had a high output 4.0 in, big downgrade what they did.

if you have gas and spark, your timing is off, or compression is weak.

93 would've been hi output, unless they swapped that motor in place of a 4 banger, even then i'd rather have a fuel injected 4 cylinder than a 4.2

anyway, irrelevant.

point being, if spark is at the plugs, and fuel is in the cylinder there's either no compression or timing is off. bottom line.

Yes i pulled the plugs when i went to change them out and smelled them so i knew i got gas into the cylinders....but its all good now i got the engine running, now in the process of fixing my slave cylinder issue. but with the engine it turns out the firing order was wrong, that was my fault for trusting the person i bought it off of cuz i didnt have the book and when i did the wires, i did the old trick and doing them one at a time. with my slave cylinder i couldnt get it to disengage the clutch....i tried bleeding it didnt work, but my thoughts r that i have to take the trans back out and see if the slave cylinder might have gotten tilted or something cuz the clip didnt seem to be that strong to hold that entire unit up there by just a pin and lock. im gonna work on it later on today when my buddy comes over to give me a hand
