Exhaust manifold - 4.0

I'm not sure, but I believe the exhaust manifold was changed at some point on YJs due to cracking at two particular flex points. Is this correct? and if so, does anyone know what year? Possibly, the manifold never changed in the YJ years, though I know that there has been manifold issues with the cracking. I only know that I have an upgraded manifold and am trying to find out if is original, changed due to a recall, or changed by a previous owner. This is on my 94 4.0.

The 4.0L manifold issue stretches from 90-99. In 2000 they changed them for TJ's. The change you might be thinking of is when they went from the 4.2 to the 4.0 in 90 I believe.

Well, that's not what I was thinking of. Thanks for the response though. What it comes down to is that I don't have that problem manifold. It must have been replaced by a previous owner.

yeah it's likely been replaced. I've seen the old style and the new style for YJs next to each other a while ago I think - the flex joint looked slightly different. The guy was doing a frame up resto of a YJ (it was a rust bucket) and he said the old one cracked in the spot where they now moved the newer style expansion joint.
