Exhaust system?

I have a 2.5l which is good on gas and is a strong engine but sounds like a running fart. Thinking of making it sound deeper. Would I need to replace the whole exhaust or is there a cheaper route? I'm not too knowledgeable about my wrangler seeing as I'm new to it. Love it though. Plan on doing lots. Thanks for the continued help And support on this forum. Your guys wranglers inspire me to make mine awesome as well.
Thanks guys

Not to burst your bubble, but its a 4cyl. Its going to sound like a "running fart" as you call it, with any kind of aftermarket exhaust. You wont ever get a deeper sound to it til you install a V8.

Actually, if you want to keep the good gas mileage, an exhaust as close to stock as possible will help you achieve that. Since the 4 banger relies on back pressure to run at its maximum potential.

I liked the Thrush Turbo muffler on my jeep when it was a 4cyl. It kept good backpressure and didn't sound too ricey.

Thanks for the advice, this wrangler is so much fun. If a flow master will help with the sound, I think I'll go that route. It's not very expensive either so that's a plus

I may throw a flowmaster on mine someday. I wouldn't put anything else on tho.

Gonna be hard to get it to sound "good" tho. Cuz it's a 4 banger.

I had a Flowmaster installed on my 90 4.2 hoping to get a beefier sound, but my DD is a Mustang GT, so my expectations were a little high, lol. It sounds better but IMO not 'beefy.' Well, maybe beefy for a 6 cyl.... It also did nothing to improve mpg, but I don't think it made it worse either.

If you want to save a little money, get a Thrush Welded. It's a Flowmaster clone and its only like $38. Parts number is 17651.

I bought my 2.5 with a pacesetter system already installed. My buddy thought my jeep was a 6 cylinder for the first month I owned it...and he works on cars for a living lol. I think it sounds pretty good for a 4 banger.
