Everybody's thoughts on exhaust seem to be different but I replaced my whole exhaust system with a Walker stock style replacement. Its quiet and fit like a glove. I couldnt be happier.

Borla system is nice. If you go full exhaust (including headers) on a 4.0 it will be LOUD!

Sorry I got cut short. I ordered mine from autozone's website and saved 20% and they delivered it for free. The converter came with a 20 dollar rebate. It's been on for a year and I have no complaints .

If you do, i would start with a header, free flow cat and good muffler, then have a local shop do your pipes, many kits do not match up with the head pipe from your manifold to the exhaust system so you actually end up with a restricted area. the kits come with larger pipes but what good is that if you have a smaller one leading in to it...

Just my 2 cents...

I have the Borla headers with a flowmaster cat back. I didn't change till my exhaust manifold cracked but I'm very happy with the result. JP magazine claimed the headers give the most power increase for the buck on their jeep performance article. Mine has a some what low throaty sound, not really loud but you can hear it. Then again it's a soft top jeep.

I bought a complete system from Ebay - 289.00 delivered.
I have to have a cat still for emissions testing
He seems to have all years and models.

I went with a banks stainless header and had it ceramic coated, then magna flow hi flow cat and a banks monster muffler, full stainless pipe front to rear.

I also run a TJ intake ceramic coated, 62 mm throttle body and larger investors and RV cam.

If you want to the the best performance air in air out....

I've been pleased with my APN header on my XJ (banks clone) mated to a custom mandrel 2.5" downpipe that's welded to a 2.5" hiflow cat and magnaflow magnapack with a mandrel bent tailpipe all bent by exhaust shops.

When I redo my YJ's exhaust I am installing a Clifford performance intake manifold weber carb , 2.5" downpipe, hiflow cat and magnapack muffler

It's 2.25" Part of the reason I went with a 2.5" downpipe is it wanted it to be the same size as everything else and to get rid of the factory kink on the downpipe on xj's

I ditched the stock exhaust except for header and just have a magnaflow muffler no cat. It sounds pretty good for a stock 4.0 and the muffler is one of the toughest things under the jeep as far as rocks go...
