Flushing radiator procedure

I'm trying to save cash and do more repairs myself. At least on the jeep. My next project is to flush radiator. I've never done a complete flush and fill before. Plus will be replacing all hoses. Anything I should know? Other than open peacock, turn a few hose clamp screws and remove hoses? Hen repeat in opposite order? I saw something about getting air in the lines or heater core causing problems? Also when install thermostat gasket, which side get the sealer top, bottom or both?
