Fuel Filter?

Just bought an 87 wrangler and there are several non stock items. There is something that looks like an oil filter in the fuel line before the fuel pump. It is red and silver. If this is a fuel filter any problem changing to lighter fuel filter?

Does the line go to the carb? Because it is probably an aftermarket fuel filter. There is a line that goes to carb then another line back to the fuel tank. Usually they are steel lines

That is a goofy fuel filter. Is it before the fuel pump or after? Cause mine is after and a lot smaller lol.

Very goofy. I think I have one before but it's under the frame. I could be wrong. Did they take out the one after?

from the top of it, it appears to be one of them new fangled f/f-4cyl deeestributors. looks like the wires are missing. ONLY KIDDING. probably the previous owners idea of a super filter. he may have lost/crushed or otherwise ruined the factory fuel lines and jerry rigged new lines. look behind the drivers seat, underneath, on the frame, for the original installation.
