Fuel Gauge

Hello All,

I just purchased my first Jeep 89 YJ - the fuel gauge needle bounces from E to F as I'm driving - I filled it with about 20 bucks so I know there is gas in it - any ideas on how to remedy this?

Thanks in advance.

sending unit maybe? Its the piece that measures and tells you how much fuel you have. Not 100% sure though

The easiest thing to do first is to check the connections at the dash gauge and then at the sending unit. You could have a loose connection there or a bad ground. If that checks out then you probably need a sending unit.
