fuel gauge stops dropping @ around 1/2 tank

my fuel gauge doesnt go below 1/2 tank I have a 93 2.5 fuel injected motor. is this as simple as droping the tank anpulling out the pump/sensor and unsticking it or does it probably need replacing,how simple and how pricey thanks any imput will help.

With gas over $3.00 a gallon, I wish mine did that

Pulling your tank is your only option I see...Your sending unit could be just stuck, hard to say though.

Pulling the tank is a pain...But it will answer the question of what's going on. Do yourself a favor if you go to all the trouble of pulling it and replace the pump assy gasket and hoses as long as you have it down!

On my 88 Grand waggy they were kind enough to put an access panel to get at the sending unit under the rear seat. No such luck on the YJ though. A pain, especially if youve had her in the mud and gunk and salt... The bands will break off etc. etc. be sure to use a torch to cut through any rounded off bolts.............
