Fuel Line Help

I need some help. I just rebuilt my 258, nutter and mc2150. Everything went smooth until I was ready to hook up the fuel lines and start it. I need to know which is the return and which is the feed line. I know I could do trial and error but this is a new rebuilt and I don't want to crank engine unless I'm ready to start it. If someone with a 87-89 YJ could look at theirs and tell me if #1 in the pic is the feed or return line. I need to know which on goes to the fuel pump.
Thanks for your help
Mitch

i almost believe (haha) that the return isnt pressurized it just "goes with the flow" so it should always sit lower then the feed

Well neither one is pressurized because I'm running a mechanical fuel pump.

You are right about the stock carb. I have a motor craft 2150. I got it from a guy who sells them on the forum. Thanks for checking and I will wait on your reply.

The top metal fuel line on my stock 4.2 6cyl goes to the fuel pump, and the bottom line goes to outflow side of the fuel filter.the center outflow port of filter goes to carb.so the bottom metal fuel line on frame is the return line to the fuel tank.i hope this helps.
