I have a 89 yj with 2.5 manual tranny I just replace each the fuel pump sending unit and tank put it all together last night no hmmm of the fuel pump test power with light got power. Plugged it back in poked light to the hot wire nothing. Really need help this it's got me pissed!!
You get 12volt from harness before you plug it in and nothing after you plug it in?.. if you have 12 on one side and not the other the terminals must be coroded or broken..check your ground wire also might not be a power problem... you can trie running a ground temporally and see if it fixes it..
The fuel pump ground is in a weird place...it's screwed into the courtesy light underneath the dash plate on the drivers side. A friend and I spent half a day dropping the fuel tank and unnecessarily replacing the fuel pump to learn that one. Do any work to your dash? Bang your left knee really hard going over a rut, maybe?
The ground for the fuel pump should be right above the parking brake. Look for the courtesy light, and there should be an unrelated ground wire with a metal loop that is screwed into the dash plate sticking out from the courtesy light socket and the bottom lip of the dash plate.
The fuel pump and courtesy lights aren't related or connected in any way, that's just where the jeep engineers decided to put it.
I made a custom dash and grounded the fuel pump elsewhere or I'd post a pic.
I think I know where you are talking about I think it's a yellow and black wire if I remember correctly will have to check it out when I get home from work this afternoon thanks ya will update
I k for yall that's still looking at the went home last night with my voltmeter I'm only getting 7v to yhe fuel pump.
