fuel pump

Anybody know where i could find the fuel pump at? I've looked online and found some but it looks like a part that i see on the front passenger side of the motor like the link below

More Information for AIRTEX 6737

can anyone confirm this? i thought it would be in the fuel tank. Almost forgot... Its a 1990 4.2l

Its hard starting when its sat overnight. but once it goes it goes. I have changed the fuel filter but only seems to make a little difference.

thanks in advance,
Phil

thanks! i may have to replace it. I also have been trying to find out if my YJ has a fuel pressure regulator. Saw some people on here having the hard start issue and tried to look for that as well but with no luck. doesn't even come up on rockauto.com or autozone, carquest, or other venders

Your 90 4.2 has a carb. The fuel pump was pictured in the link. It's a basic system, meaning you have no pressure regulators or throttle position switches or crank shaft sensors, etc. What you have is a carb with an automatic choke that most likely isn't functioning properly. If it's running properly once you start it and runs at speed it's not your fuel pump. You have a carb issue. When cold pump it at least 4x. Then with your foot off of the gas crank it. If it doesn't want to start try it one more time. If not your auto choke might not be setting or it has a broken spring. The first thing I would do is to get a can of carb and choke cleaner and clean the carb and choke components real good. If that doesn't do it think about a rebuild or another carb. Search nutter bypass for more info.

it has a weber carb. and i think its fine now. i replaced the fuel filter yesterday around noon and went to work at 4pm. Got off at midnight and started like a charm. Went home, slept, then woke up around 8am. Started the Jeep around 9:30ish and started on first try. I hope that solves that problem. Thanks for your help guys!
