Fuel Pump?

Drove to work in the morning with no problems. Went to leave and my '93 wrangler wouldn't start . It cranked really good, just wouldn't start. Checked and has spark. I figured it probably was the fuel pump, so I had it towed home. Disconnected the two quick connect fuel lines (fuel supply and fuel return) jumped in and gave it a crank. No fuel came out...would this indicate a bad fuel pump? If so, is it located in the fuel tank? Is it a job for the average home mechanic? Any other helpful info would be greatly accepted. Thanks!!!

It is located in the fuel tank. You can drop the tank and replace it. It is not a hard job to do, just make sure as little gas as possible is in the tank. The pump and sending unit are all one piece, (and not cheap.)

But before you do, have you checked the fuel filter? It could be clogged.

Crawl under the drivers side rear. Just in front of the rear tire, up on the frame. You'll see a 6" x 4" bent skid plate type thing. Behind that is a small round, 5" x 4" round canister with small inlet and outlets where the fuel goes through. Be careful as fuel will spill from it as you disconnect the hoses.

Yeah, after you told me that there was a fuel filter, I went out looked again and found it. Replaced it. Still didn't start, so pulled out the fuel pump. Connected the pump to battery and nothing, so will try to find one. Thanks for all the help.
