Fuel tank on a 94 YJ

I have a 94 yj in which I need to replace the flex fuel line from the Fuel tank. (Leaking) My question is, can I lower the tank some what or will the tank have to be removed completely?

Are you sure the line is broken or do you just need to tighten the clamp(s)? This happens to me frequently when I leave the Jeep set for a time. When I first start it up it leaks like a sieve from various soft-to-hard line connections, but if I dive under and tighten the relative hose clamps I have no further problem.

Lowering the gas tank and removing it take about the same amount of work. When lowering you may be able to leave some hoses connected, but removing it completely isn't any harder. If you lower it and can't get access to the fuel line you need to, it would probably take you like 10 more minutes to get it out. It pretty much drops right down and just has to be slid a bit to the passenger side so the fill hole clears the frame.

The night before you remove the tank spray all the bolts/nuts with wd-40 or similar stuff, makes things easier.

I just callde and found out the Fuel tank sending unit GASKET has a recall on it for my 1993 / If they have to check that, they will have to drop the tank. Maybe that will fix it /
I agree with the above post about tighting the hose clamps.I have had to tighten my before /

I just had my tank down 2 days ago. If you drop it, be sure to do the 15 to 20 Gallon Upgrade Mod. I droped the tank to fix the fuel gauge. It would be empty with the gauge showing 1/4 of a tank.

Had the same fuel gage issue with my 91 YJ. When I dropped the tank to replace the fuel pump I noticed the the baffle box was severly ditroted preventing the gave from fully dropping with the fuel level. I decided to remove the box and have the fuel level fluctuate rather than have to guess when the tank was empty or fill up as soon as I hit 1/4 tank.
