Hey guys im the new owner of a 1992 jeep wrangler with the 5 speed 2.5l. Well giving it a complete inspection at my shop, after pulling the gas tank skid plate there is a rust hole completely through the gas tank :/ After doing some shopping around the cheapest i can find is around $460.. Just seems abit high considering i spent only $120 on my MJs tank.. Also do the 15g and 20g both fit? TIA - Dom
Don't know for sure but you can investigate.
If you have a 15G. tank, the 20G. is a handy upgrade.
1987 through 1990 6cyl. YJs has 15G metal tanks and 20G. plastic tanks. I don't think either will work for you because they don't have the intank fuel pump. I don't know about 4cyl. tanks.
What you may consider, is a 1991 through 1995 plastic tank. Some are listed as 15G. and others are listed as 20G. tanks. They are the same tank!! There are several threads on this forum to do the conversion. Search "20 gallon conversion".
Or, you can search the net for possibly a utube video of the conversion.
If I were in your position, I would find a used 1991-1995 tank with a good skid plate and do the conversion.
Other posters with more experience should chime in here. I'm not positive that my suggestion will work for OP.
Ty for all the replies everyone. Ima go look at a donor tomorrow hopefully the tanks in good shape. If not I'll be getting the one from Morris.
This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
