Have you checked to see if yours is really a 20 gallon?

You probably have a 20 gallon gas tank but there is a flow restrictor tube that tricks your tank to only filling up to 15 gal.... remove your gas cap and housing, take up the filler house (not over flow hose)... look for a black plastic 9" long pipe sticking down in your tank (you wont know its nine inches unless you pull it our with some pliers) if it is 9" cut it down two about 2" and bam u have a 20 gal gas tank.... but your sending unit is only for a 15 gal so you gage will read full for the first 5 gal but once it starts to drop below 15 gal the gas will read correctly

All yj's from 91-95 were made with 20 gal gas tanks. They just have a 9" plastic tube that blocks it to 15gal. If you paid at the dealership for the upgrade they from a 15 to 20 gal then they took the jeep to the back and cut the tube then gave u a 20 gal sending unit

After reading this post, I put the 95 YJ in the gerage and removed the 10 1/2" tube out of the tank, it is all stock, never had to drop the tank just removed the plastic guard, only PTA was the clamp, now I have a 20 gl. tank witch means i'll have to dig into the wallet a little deeper too fill it up now.

I did the mod to my 95 YJ last night, today I filled it all the way up to the cap, did some jeeping, it leaked out only when I was on a seep incline, my bad, I didn't get the clamp on behind the lobe on the neck, redid the clam will see how it goes.

Anyone got pics of this? Just to clarify, pull the whole assembly out of the tank, but there is an extra 9" at the end. Cut that and viola...

I cut off 2" as suggested, and pressed it back into the tank, so to help keep the hose clamped into place, it gives the clamp a riged place to grab onto. I allso replaced the clamp.

87-91 share most things as far as everything I see. I don't see anything about whether a skid plate will fit it, which would be my concern.
